The first of it’s kind in Norway, the museum opened its doors in 1992. Since then, the Toy Museum in the Lofoten Islands has become a concept in it’s own right, founded as it was on the true joy of collecting and on personal initiative.

Many of the adults that visit the museum experience a flood of old memories … the toys and dolls from way back when conjure up fond memories of childhood friends and bygone circumstances in the mind’s eye .. as though it was only yesterday. And the children, too, find it amusing to see the “old-fashioned” toys that their parents and grandparents once played with.

The Museum houses a couple of thousand exhibits collected from all over Norway, and includes a special “Lofoten Room” with toys collected within the local region.
